Defining aspects (Yogas/Drishtis) as angular relationships between celestial bodies.
Within the framework of Vedic astrology, or Jyotisha, the interactions between celestial bodies are not merely symbolic but are fundamentally defined by their relative positions in the sky. These interactions, often referred to as Yogas or Drishtis in the ancient texts, can be precisely quantified as angular relationships. At the moment of birth, the specific placement of each planet and other sensitive points creates a complex geometric configuration.
Imagine the birth chart as a circular map representing the ecliptic plane, the apparent path of the sun across the sky. Planets and points are plotted onto this circle based on their celestial longitude, measured in degrees. An aspect forms when two such points are separated by a specific angular distance.
