This first chapter really drew me in. I enjoyed learning about Steve's childhood and how integral Australia Zoo was to his upbringing. The writing was accessible and made me feel like I was there with him. It was interesting to see how his parents instilled such a strong conservation ethic in him from a young age. Can't wait to see where this story goes as he becomes the Crocodile Hunter. I'm definitely interested in reading the rest.

This first chapter really drew me in, setting a solid foundation for Steve Irwin's early life. Clarke's writing effectively paints a picture of the Irwin family's immersive approach to conservation. The detailed account of young Steve's interactions with animals, especially crocodiles, was quite engaging. It’s clear how these formative experiences shaped his future dedication to wildlife. The chapter successfully establishes Australia Zoo as more than a setting, but a crucial element of his development. I’m definitely interested in reading the rest to understand his transition to a global icon. This preview makes it feel worth upgrading to read the complete version. Can't wait to see where this story goes.
