Synopsis

When Chance Hartford moves to New York City to begin his freshman year at Columbia University, he expects to focus on his studies and navigate the challenges of living away from home. What he doesn’t expect is to cross paths with Theo Galanis, a charming and enigmatic waiter at a local Greek restaurant with a playboy lifestyle. From their first meeting, Chance is drawn to Theo’s effortless confidence and warmth, while Theo is intrigued by Chance’s sincerity and passion for astrophysics. As the two grow closer, their casual encounters evolve into something deeper. Theo opens Chance’s world to hidden corners of the city, unexpected adventures, and a relationship that feels as thrilling as it is comforting. But beneath Theo’s easygoing exterior lies a man tied to dangerous family secrets, connections that complicate his growing bond with Chance. Their romance unfolds against the vibrant backdrop of New York; late-night walks along Riverside Park, drag shows at underground clubs, intimate dinners in candlelit restaurants. Chance learns to step outside his comfort zone, discovering not just love, but parts of himself he never knew existed. Over the span of two years, we watch their relationship deepen and evolve. Behind the scenes, however, is Constantine Galanis - Theo’s father. Constantine is the leader of a Greek mafia and hopes for Theo to take over. Constantine has never accepted Theo’s sexuality and expects Theo to one day marry a girl, have kids and carry on the family legacy. While out celebrating Chance’s completion of his sophomore year of college, Theo becomes too inebriated to drive and Chance gets in and drives them home. Shortly after leaving the restaurant, they get into a car crash. The story ends with Chance blacking out.
