The book is about a merchent ship that will deport from livorno in late 1700s that is filled with different goods like spices from india and olive oil the first scene as the are leaving and saying their goodbyes to their families . The first chapter shows the struggles they went through the meditrerarren sea and the damege caused to the ship and when they were near the egyptian coast the beginning of the exchange of egyptian and french alltiriry before the battle of the nile battle and this chapter shows how they were affected and who died during the battle and the damege caused to the ship as they tried to fix it. The next chapter is the begining of one of the most intense battles in history that is the battle of the nile , the ship is caught in between the two rivals and is hit multiple times with some crew dead , this chapter showes their struggle in the battle and trying to flee but at no succed the ship sinks and their are two boats that the rest of the surviving crew board and they survive the night of intense battle . The next chapter shows their struggle at the sea for one month relying on rain water and limited supplies . With only 3 of the 15 crew members that survived on of them is the captain the arrive at the coast of modern day turkey and the ottamens take them and give them food and water . The last chapter showcases journey through the mountains for the return to his family back at livorno and when he returns his 6 month old daughter became one year oldd and he returned as a hero and he began maneging the harbors and docks. At the end of the book in the middle of the page in a moontime font write:( And I who saw the sun at the dark dessert)
