Synopsis

The world has fallen. A zombie apocalypse, initially dismissed as distant news from Panama, has erupted with terrifying speed, engulfing entire continents. In Flanders, Belgium, fifteen-year-old students receive the chilling news during class on a Tuesday afternoon, just days after being told to prepare for the worst. Panic ensues as they realize the city's tracker app, activated by mandatory wristbands distributed only the day before, shows most of Flanders already overrun. For sixteen-year-old Alex and his close-knit group of friends, the only hope is to reach his home in a still-unaffected municipality. With no other transport, Alex resorts to desperate measures, commandeering a bicycle, which becomes their lifeline. They are soon joined by six other desperate individuals, strangers who attach themselves to Alex's group. Upon reaching Alex's home, they discover the grim reality: some family members are alive, while others have succumbed to the infection, becoming the very monsters they fear. As they struggle to survive, Alex's path intertwines with other pockets of survivors, including a group led by an older acquaintance from his university-bound former friend, who is now in Leuven. This older acquaintance, living in Panama and refusing to wear a tracker, is wealthy and has three employees with him, hinting at a deeper, more sinister connection to the outbreak. The chilling truth eventually emerges: the zombie plague will only cease when a single human survivor remains, destined to be crowned the 'King of Earth.' Betrayal lurks around every corner as alliances shift and the fight for humanity intensifies.
