Synopsis

The Vibe: Gothic opulence, eerie festivals, heavy velvet, and dangerous secrets. The Setting: A fictionalized Northern Italian city-state locked in a permanent, gloomy autumn, famous for its annual Festival of the Crow—a week of masked balls meant to ward off bad luck. The Plot: To save her family from ruin, a young noblewoman attends the festival wearing a stunning but haunting black-and-gold gown. There, she catches the eye of a mysterious, brooding nobleman who wears a silver plague-doctor mask. He belongs to a forbidden, secret occult society that rules the city from the shadows. The Romance: He offers her a dark bargain: if she plays his fiancée at the court's extravagant, candlelit festivals to help him smoke out an assassin, he will clear her family's debts. Amidst the swirling gowns, midnight feasts, and gothic rituals, the line between their fake engagement and a terrifyingly intense, dark devotion begins to blur.
