The Case of the Missing Moonbeam

Synopsis

When twelve-year-old Mia discovers that the old clock in her school library has mysteriously stopped at exactly 3:17, she thinks it is nothing more than a broken clock, but when a small handwritten note appears underneath it saying, “The answer is closer than you think,” her curiosity takes over. Determined to find out who left the message, Mia teams up with her best friend Noah, and together they begin investigating the strange clues hidden around the library. Their search leads them to a missing book, a set of unusual footprints, a photograph with a person mysteriously scratched out, and a series of tiny symbols that seem meaningless at first. As Mia and Noah carefully compare each clue, they realise that each one is connected to something that happened at the school many years ago. Along the way, they make mistakes and follow several false leads, teaching them that solving a mystery is not always about finding the biggest clue but about noticing the smallest details. When they discover that another student, Lily, has also been investigating the mystery, the three decide to work together rather than compete, combining what each of them has discovered. Eventually, they uncover the hidden reason behind the clues: a former student had created a secret treasure hunt years earlier and hidden a time capsule in the school, but the final clue had been lost and accidentally rediscovered. With only a short amount of time before the library is renovated, the children race to solve the final puzzle, using teamwork, logic, and courage to find the hidden time capsule. Inside, they discover old photographs, drawings, letters, and a message reminding whoever found it to “never stop being curious.” The mystery ends with Mia, Noah, and Lily proudly returning the time capsule to the school, realising that the greatest discovery was not the objects inside it but what they learned along the way: that even ordinary things can hide extraordinary stories, and that curiosity, careful observation, teamwork, and determination can help anyone uncover the truth.
